Immerse yourself in an altitude stay at the Cabane du Petit Mountet, featuring four days of expertly guided training.

First Week of July 2024

Join us for a four-day acclimatization experience, where you’ll acquaint yourself with a segment of the Sierre-Zinal trail and navigate specific mountain paths under the guidance of an accomplished coach. Accommodation and meals will be provided at the Cabane du Petit Mountet (2142m).

July 2nd to 5th, 2024:

4 days of comprehensive guided training, 3 nights with half-board at the Cabane du Petit Mountet, 4 organized lunch meals (lunch pack or restaurant), 1 entry to the pool and spa and assured registration for the Sierre-Zinal race.

Detailed Program:

1ST DAY, TUESDAY, JULY 2ND:

Meet at Zinal at 2 PM with the coach for introductions at the Tzoucdana relay.

Around 3 PM, embark on a 1.5-hour hike to the Cabane du Petit Mountet.

Baggage transportation will be efficiently arranged to the cabin (baggage pickup at the communal parking near the Tzoucdana relay).

2ND DAY, WEDNESDAY, JULY 3RD:

Embark on a full-day trail run to Cabane d’Arpittetaz and return to Petit-Mountet in the afternoon.

Cover approximately 14km with a 1000m+ elevation gain.

3RD DAY, THURSDAY, JULY 4TH:

Engage in a two-part training session (morning and afternoon):

– 1.5 hours of specific Sierre-Zinal training, focusing on technique, running economy, and interval workshops.

– Endurance training at altitude for 1.5 to 2 hours.

4TH DAY, FRIDAY, JULY 5TH:

Begin the day at 8 AM with a descent to Zinal, followed by a bus ride to Chandolin.

– Conduct training on the Sierre-Zinal course: Chandolin-Zinal (approx. 19km/650m+).

– Enjoy access to the pool and spa facilities in Zinal.

– Conclude the stay with a debriefing over a meal in Zinal.

Baggage transportation will be efficiently organized back to Zinal (swimming pool car park).

Accommodation and Meals:

Stay in the cabin’s cozy, private rooms (no large dormitories), complete with showers and toilets on each floor.

Each evening, a menu will be offered for the evening meal, in addition to a hearty breakfast each morning.

Lunch arrangements are also made (either a takeaway picnic or restaurant).

Beverages are not included in the package.

About the Coach, Jérôme Vanderschaeghe:

Jérôme, 34 years old and a father of two, is a Belgian trail and ultra-trailer.

Over the past 8 years, he has participated in numerous trail events in Switzerland, Europe, and around the world,
consistently ranking among the best Belgians. In 2019, he competed in the marathon format World Championship (44th place).

Jérôme completed the Sierre-Zinal trail in 2 hours and 55 minutes and achieved victories in several Swiss trails, including Trail du Rock, des Cabanes, de la Vallée de Joux, and secured top 5 positions in marathons such as Grand Saint-Bernard, Lavaredo (48km), Eiger (35km), and more.

His specialties include longer distances, with notable wins such as the 85km Échappée Belle in France in 2022 and a 7th place on the Diagonale des Fous (165km/10000m+) in the same year.

His 2023 achievements include triumphs in the 70km Montreux Trail Festival and Trail du Besso, along with a second-place finish in the 110km Restonica Trail by UTMB (Corsica).
Residing in Val d’Anniviers since winter 2019, Jérôme serves as a patroller in the Grimentz-Zinal ski area during winter and contributes as a guardian at the Cabane du Petit Mountet (Zinal) during the summer.

Drawing from his extensive experience, Jérôme is eager to share insights on training, nutrition, running technique, and more.
